The latest crimes reported in North Norfolk are mainly:

THEFT, BURGLARY AND CRIMINAL DAMAGE. ADDITIONALLY:

BOGUS CALLERS can call with the aim to increase the fear of crime and attempt to sell crime prevention products at exorbitant prices. These are often unnecessary and unwanted.

BOGUS TELEPHONE CALLS enquire when householders will be at home for the delivery of a parcel and times that they will be out and so avoid disappointment. This will identify potential burglary properties.

Some calls offer cash or holiday rewards in exchange for answering a survey. This is aimed at identity theft.         Remember also to shred or burn all paper waste which contains personal data. The Home Office provides information on this topic just go to www.identitytheft.org.uk.

Calls claiming a crime prevention survey for police or government agencies aimed at obtaining security information ie: if alarmed, when occupied etc.

The police and government agencies will not ask you for this information over the telephone

If you receive any of the above, try 1471 and if you obtain a number, feed back.

ROGUE TRADERS offering to repair roof tiles and gutters etc. Even going onto the roof uninvited and then charging excessive prices. Hedge cutting is the latest rouse in this crime.

Beware of BOGUS OFFICIALS attempting to gain access to your home. Always ask for an ID and if still unsure telephone the organisation on the number in the telephone book.

INVITES TO CALL PREMIUM TELEPHONE SERVICES by dropping a card through the door claiming to have attempted to deliver a parcel. The number to call to arrange delivery is a premium rate number and goes to a pre-recorded message. This will have already cost you £15.

LOTTERY SCAMMERS usually ask for cash to release winnings. REMEMBER!!! IF YOU HAVE NOT BOUGHT A TICKET HOW CAN YOU WIN? IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS!!

There have been no reports of these crimes in our immediate vicinity. However, be prepared in the case it happens to you.
